Step-By-Step Guide: How to Use Golden Tallow on Your Face

How you apply Golden Tallow matters as much as using it consistently. The right technique, the right amount, and the right timing significantly affect how well it absorbs, how long the moisture lasts, and how quickly you see results.

Step 1: Prep Your Skin

Golden Tallow absorbs best into clean, slightly damp skin. In the evening, cleanse with the Wagyu Luxe Soap Bar -- its cold-process, tallow-based formula cleanses without stripping the barrier. In the morning, a splash of water is sufficient for most people. Harsh morning cleansers strip the sebum your skin produced overnight and counteract what the Elixir is trying to accomplish.

After rinsing, pat skin gently with a clean towel until it is noticeably damp but not dripping. The dampness is important -- tallow seals in moisture, and having water on the skin surface before application means the tallow seals that water in.

Step 2: Warm the Product

Scoop or press out a pea-sized amount -- or less. This is almost certainly less than you think you need. Tallow is dense and goes significantly further than water-based moisturizers. Place the small amount between your fingertips and press them together gently, holding for 5-10 seconds. Your body heat melts the tallow from its semi-solid state into a smooth, spreadable consistency that absorbs far more readily than cold tallow applied directly.

Step 3: Apply With Pressing Motions

Press the warmed tallow into your skin rather than rubbing it. Start at the center of the face and press outward and upward. Cover the forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin. For the eye area, use the ring finger -- it naturally applies lighter pressure -- and press gently around the orbital bone.

Rubbing generates friction that pulls at the skin and disrupts the application. Pressing deposits the tallow exactly where you place it and allows it to begin absorbing immediately.

Step 4: Wait for Absorption

Allow 5-10 minutes for full absorption before applying anything else. Set a timer if needed -- most people underestimate how much time they are actually waiting. Wagyu tallow absorbs completely in this time frame for most skin types, leaving no visible residue and no greasy feeling. If skin still feels tacky after ten minutes, you likely used too much -- reduce the amount next time.

Step 5: Add What Else You Need

After full absorption, apply sunscreen if going outside in daylight. Mineral sunscreen (zinc oxide) is the most compatible with a tallow base. If wearing makeup, apply as normal -- tallow provides an excellent smooth base.

Adjusting for Your Skin Type

Dry skin: Apply generously to damp skin, both morning and evening. May benefit from a slightly larger amount in winter.

Oily skin: Use half a pea-sized amount or less. Evening application only for the first few weeks. Morning use can be introduced once the skin adjusts.

Combination skin: Apply liberally to dry areas (cheeks, around eyes) and lightly to oily areas (forehead, nose, chin).

Sensitive skin: Begin with evening application only. Use the smallest possible amount. Introduce morning use in week two if no reaction occurs.
